Marginal Field Development

Uncertainty in the amount of recoverable reserves and high cost associated in acquiring further reservoir information as well as high capital expenditure are the dilemmas our industry is facing in developing the marginal field.

Still, with the right technique and approach these stranded oil accumulations can be exploited profitably.

AWT have the capability to provide an innovative and unique development concept which will deliver step change value in commercialisation of these marginal assets. Even better, AWT also offer a solution with a single source (focal point) which will enable such opportunities to be delivered in a cost-effective coordinated manner.

The key components of the AWT Marginal Field Development concept are as follows:

  • Integrated Complete Engineering Capability

  • AWT deliver pre-FEED, detailed design, project execution and commissioning & operations of the facility based on the fit-for-purpose concept (low cost – high value).
  • Mobile, Relocatable Drilling and Production Unit

AWT recommends a state-to-the-art drilling and production unit. One option is the integration of a temporary drilling unit to a production unit which also facilitates ‘connection’ to storage plinth. In addition to these, the offload systems can also be incorporated into the unit.
  • Temporary Advanced Drilling Package

AWT can offer a competitive drilling package to the industry. One of the alternatives is an automated drilling unit with low manning levels (6 man crew) which greatly minimises the impact on accommodation and operating costs. Moreover by incorporating some normal third-party provided services to the rig, the add-on costs can further reduced. The HWU and CTD technology can be integrated as required with additional cost.
  • Integrate Artificial Lift Capability

AWT consider all artificial lift capability in order to single out the best technique to sustain the production targets. The fit-for-purpose artificial lift design ensures it is designed to suit the reservoir needs and production expectations while keeping the cost at a minimum possible.
  • Storage and Export Options

The ‘temporary’ storage plinth, export tanker, shuttle tanker and low-cost subsea tie back wells are among the storage and export options that AWT offer to cater for different requirements of marginal field development.
